Marriage Programs
At All Nations Church, we celebrate the role relationships and marriage play in the development of ourselves and, ultimately, society. Healthy relationships lead to healthy marriages, which lead to healthy families, communities, cities and finally nations. We believe that children cannot feel any more secure and loved than in seeing their parents loving one another. Parents loving each other is the best gift they can give to their children.
To help foster this celebration of relationships, marriage and parenting, we provide several venues for discussion:
The Marriage Course and the Marriage Preparation Course
The Marriage Course and the Marriage Preparation Course are for any married, engaged or cohabiting couple who wants to build strong foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. The Marriage Course (eight sessions over eight weeks) and the Marriage Preparation Course (five sessions over two days on a weekend) are designed to help any married couple, or couple considering marriage, strengthen their relationship. It's a great opportunity to spend time together as a couple and look at the important issues in your relationship. At each session you are given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen to a talk. Then there is plenty of time to discuss the topic as a couple. There is no group work involved at any stage of the course.
Boy Meets Girl
Imagine a group of around thirty people, sitting around for a few hours eating, drinking coffee, tea or juice, laughing, sharing thoughts, questions and concerns about topics like sex, intimacy, finances, debt, roles, communication and conflict resolution. Well, that's what you find at Boy Meets Girl. Quarterly, we sit down and take a look at how biblical wisdom can help shape our marriages and relationships to bring about the good kind of change in our lives. These sessions are open to singles and dating, engaged or married couples alike. There is no expectation for you to share, but anyone is able to ask a question or share a thought pertaining to the topic.
Parenting 101
For all who are parents, having a little person placed into our hands to care for, train and nurture can be overwhelming and exhausting. We want parents to be reminded that they are the perfect parent for their children. God did not give them to anyone else to raise, so in those times when you are left feeling panicked by uncertainty or guilt, remember that you've never parented this child before so there is bound to be huge learning curves. At our parenting sessions we talk about the basics of family dynamics, common pitfalls that parents find themselves in, taking time for our children and taking time for ourselves, among other topics. In it all, we want to facilitate open discussion between parents to troubleshoot concerns and to laugh as we share those stories that teach us so much about our children and ourselves.
These events happen throughout the year. If you have any questions about a particular event, please call, e-mail or drop by on a Sunday.
Ali and Pat, Mike and Kristen, and Daryl and Kelly run the marriage ministries here at All Nations.
