Meet the Need Ottawa
About MNO
Meet the Need Ottawa is an initiative led by people who have a faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to live as he did. Jesus asks His followers to love one another and provide for those in need. As a response to this, Meet the Need seeks to practically support those who are without life’s basic resources.
The Winter Clothing Project
Each year, money is provided to agencies that serve the homeless population to purchase and provide winter clothing. However, those who are marginally housed (living in temporary housing, subsidized housing or rooming houses) are not able to benefit from this service. Meet the Need’s Winter Clothing Project began in December 2008, after the need for winter clothing was recognized in this community.
Through this initiative, we provide new and good quality used clothing items to social service agencies. These items are then distributed to individuals living in marginalized housing.
How to Help
MNO purchases and collects donations of new or very lightly used winter clothing for individuals living on limited incomes who are 16 years of age and older. Items we provide are winter coats & boots, hats, scarves, mittens and gloves.
We receive financial and volunteer support from local communities including Ottawa All Nations Church, Nepean High School Leadership Program and interested community members.
