Michelle Ramdhanie, Coordinator of the Refugee Ministry

Ottawa, as a multicultural city, is host to 126 embassies and high commissions and welcomes numerous refugees, displaced persons and newcomers to Canada yearly. All Nations Church, as a vibrant community of people in the city, is committed to supporting and assisting newcomers. The church assists refugee claimants and conventional refugees entering into Canada in practical ways through advocacy, referrals to support agencies and services, counselling and education. It is our desire that these services ease the transition so that newcomers can establish a secure, healthy and fulfilling life in Canada.

Currently we are offering a free English Conversation Group for those who desire to learn or improve their proficiency of the English language. The course is structured to meet the individual learning needs of each student and is taught by qualified teachers and volunteers. The class size can vary, but there is always a high student to teacher ratio. The Conversation Group meets every Tuesday evening at 7pm at 250 Besserer St. at the corner of King Edward and Besserer.

If you are interested in more information on our support services for newcomers to Canada or if you would like to register and attend our English Conversation Group, please contact Karen Sadler, our office administrator at info@allnationsottawa.com
